In a story that aired earlier this year, NPR reported that the amount of food wasted each year in the U.S. is the equivalent of 141 trillion calories or about 1,249 calories per person each day. It’s a startling figure and certainly a novel way of looking at food waste.

The Importance of Third Party Endorsement in the Nonprofit Sector

It’s been true in the for-profit sector that third party reviews and seals do make a difference.  Tim Ash and many professionals in the online space have spoken about the importance of using third party endorsements as a way to build online trust (see his article on ClickZ). Well, a slice of that information is brought forward by Software Advice, a company that provides research and reviews of donor management systems.  They recently published an article on the importance for charities to display seals on their websites and printed materials to show donors that they responsibly manage funds.

Department of Public information and Disney Enterprises, and was co-hosted by Kathy Lee Gifford. Believe it or not, Winnie the Pooh was named the world’s Ambassador of Friendship at the United Nations!

In the business world, collecting user feedback has become a rule of thumb. It enables companies to improve products or services, and strengthen relationships with clients. Helping Kids Make a Difference

It’s Never Too Early to Help

It’s easy to forget how lucky we are.  We get in a particular groove, driving the kids to school, cheering them on at sporting events, helping them with homework. But are we teaching them how to pitch in and help others who are not as fortunate? How do they learn that not every child can ask a parent for basketball shoes and have them in time for next team practice? Do our kids realize that the crystal-clear drinking water that comes out of the tap is not an endless flow?
