ICAN, International Cancer Advocacy Network

I began volunteering with ICAN four years ago and have been a research team leader for three of those years. The organization is composed of dedicated, passionate people at all levels, particularly Regina Marie Klopfer and Marcia Horn, who provide strong, compassionate leadership. Every ICAN volunteer, regardless of his or her background, is a valued member of the team. It has been such a privilege to be part of an organization that is a driving force for oncology patient advocacy at every level. ICAN is a truly special organization doing phenomenal work.ASRTL

Arizona Animal Welfare League

Volunteer opportunities PhoenixAt AAWL I’ve interacted with staff and volunteers who are so dedicated and passionate in rescuing animals, making sure that they get a second chance for a forever home. There are so many opportunities/training for us as volunteers to engage with our four-legged friends. We go beyond walking dogs: We do enrichment games, dog training, shy-dog classes, and play groups. Through my volunteering I found our new fur baby to add to our family. It’s an awesome feeling being part of AAWL, who are committed in saving, rescuing, and loving each and every animal that comes through their doors!—Laura F.1

Teen Lifeline

I have been a volunteer at Teen Lifeline for almost a year and I wouldn’t trade the experience for anything. Teen Lifeline is an amazing organization that reaches out to teens who don’t feel like they have anything to hold on to. It amazes me each time I see how many calls Teen Lifeline has taken, how many people it has helped. Volunteering at Teen Lifeline gave me a sense of what it means to be a person and what it means to help another. In addition to this, the environment at Teen Lifeline is a loving one full of caring, considerate people. —laurstein

Casa Center for Positive Social Change

As a volunteer with CASA I have seen firsthand the difference the programs make and have read hundreds of thank you letters from the students for helping them to learn how to handle bullies, to know the difference between a healthy relationship and an abusive or violent one. They are also given the opportunity to talk one on one with the CASA teachers, and if abuse is disclosed CASA contacts the authorities. Their programs aim to prevent destructive behaviors, get help for victims, and to stop the cycle of violence and abuse. —volunteer4casa

Empty Bowl Pet Food Pantry

I came upon Empty Bowl a few years ago working with another nonprofit organization . . . and I fell in love with the idea that people could keep their pets in times of hardships. I have been distributing pet food for a few years now, and it has been an honor to be part of their volunteer staff. I can’t say enough about the wonderful board and volunteers who I get to work with and all the amazing people I have met along the way! I hope to continue to work with everyone (staff and clients) for a long time.VanBurenUhaul

St. Mary’s Food Bank Alliance

Volunteer opportunities Phoenix

St. Mary’s Food Bank is a wonderful place for team-building opportunities. I volunteer with my company every quarter and the staff at St. Mary’s is always so friendly and welcoming. They do an amazing job orientating and explaining what our task will be. I have helped pack the food boxes at their main warehouse and I love how they play music to keep everyone enthused/motivated. I have also helped distribute the food, which is definitely an eye-opener to how many people in my community need a helping hand. I always look forward to volunteering with the company, I have even started doing it with my family as well. Awesome place! I highly recommend St. Mary’s Food Bank!—Writer

Positive Network Alliance

Positive Network Alliance is by far the most extraordinary nonprofit I have ever come across. I first learned about it at a rotary club meeting and met Santa for the first time. I volunteered for PNA the first year, about three or four years ago and couldn’t believe my eyes of what they do for impoverished children throughout the valley and neighboring cities. PNA provides a gift that many children are not able to experience sometimes in their very own home. The joy on children’s faces every year still melts my heart! I still volunteer and will continue to volunteer. I just wish everyone could see what I see and also decide to join us. It is such a privilege and honor to join PNA and make a difference. If I could give it 10 stars I would, over and over again!! Thank you PNA for making such a huge impact in our community!—silvia5686
